In the respect of traditions and with a vision turned towards the future, the Domaine Michel Delorme undertook in 2008 an ambitious project to renew its vineyard. Two historical plots, the Champelle and the Biévaux, which have served the vineyard since the post-war period, have experienced a new birth. Considering these vines too old to continue producing grapes of the desired quality, the estate took the bold decision to tear them out to replant them.
This renewal was not only a question of the youthfulness of the plants; it was also an opportunity for diversification. In an innovative move, these lands have been dedicated to the cultivation of white grape varieties, thus enriching the already prestigious range of the estate. This initiative met a double ambition: to perpetuate the family heritage while adapting to the evolving expectations and tastes of our customers.
Today, we can proudly say that the bet has been successful. The replanted vines prosper, testifying to the vitality and fertility of these exceptional terroirs. In particular, the "En Biévaux" plot is about to unveil its very first white harvest, thus marking the beginning of a new era for the estate. This long-awaited harvest will be accompanied by those from our other two overgrafted plots, promising an exceptional vintage.
However, it will be necessary to show a little patience before being able to taste this new treasure. The White Santenay from these renewed lands will officially enter our menu in 2013. This wine promises to be a celebration of the renewal, tradition, and innovation that characterize the Michel Delorme Estate.
The estate is looking forward to sharing with you this new chapter in its history. We invite you to stay tuned for the release of this promising vintage, which, we hope, will find a place of choice at your table.
